My favourite places to buy art online
Canvas from Abstract House
Photography from King & McGaw
Art is such an important part of designing a room - it’s how you add character, colour, texture, style and scale. It’s also a really personal part of a home, the art you choose to display is an outward expression of who you are and what you like.
With that said, it can be hard to know where to start with countless options. I’ve narrowed down my favourite places to look for art online ranging from inexpensive to pricey.
The Poster Club
Starting off with The Poster Club which is a Copenhagen-based online curation of prints from independent artists. Think laid back style and Scandi cool, with lots of abstract, figurative and line art. They also have a selection of the largest prints I can find online at 1m x 1.4m.
Desenio
Desenio is a budget friendly option with a lot of choice for different tastes. It was founded in Stockholm so you’ll find more Scandi style prints, as well as photography, illustration and lots of graphical style prints. They’ve also got a good selection of options for kids rooms.
King & McGaw
Leaning more towards the classic and traditional style, King & McGaw is my go to for clients who prefer photography, paintings or landscapes on their walls. Their framing is high quality and they have a good range of sizes. My favourite piece of art that I own is from King & McGaw - the old town Vegas photography print above.
House of Spoils
House of Spoils is aptly named because it’s a good place to shop if you want to spoil yourself. Expensive but ridiculously cool, if you like Slim Aarons or vintage Americana photography then you’ll love it. They also sell the largest prints you can get online (1.2m x 1.6m) but be prepared to spend a couple of grand.
Abstract House
If you’re not bothered about having photos, drawings or paintings of “things” on your walls, then abstract art might be more up your street. Abstract House is the best I can find online for large canvases with art to suit pretty much any colour scheme. They are priced well too, for the size. The key to making canvases look good and not tacky (cough, Ikea canvases, cough) is to have them framed in a floating frame, which Abstract House provides.
Etsy
And finally, Etsy is a goldmine of affordable art to suit pretty much any taste. You can find some really fun, quirky art here, some is in even downloadable so you can print it yourself. If you can think of it, Etsy will have some art based on it.
